Possum Are People Too

"For Our Baby Critter"

It was a cold and dark night,

She ran in circles, with such fright.

Where does a baby critter hide?

Suddenly no mother by her side.

Seeing car lights, she stops to stare.

Not knowing the people inside the car, really care.

To help God's critter children in life to survive.

To remove their fear, make them glad to be alive.

Father asks mother, "Can you catch the little one?"

Probably as long as it doesn't run.

Picking it up, cold and shivering, it snuggles near.

No longer feeling alone, cold or fear.

Having no teeth, she must be bottle fed.

Wrap her in a blanket, just like a baby enough said.

A new member of the family with four legs not two.

She looks a little different from me or you.

She grows bigger as the years roll by.

I think we have spoiled her, mother thinks with a sigh.

Three people years have passed.

Or ninety possum years, an old one at last.

She has left this earth behind.

Only her blankets and clothes to find.

"BC" you will always be in our heart.

God's precious gift to never part.
